My name is Minxi Yao. My friends like to call me Xixi or Thea. This is my second year in Washburn University. I just changed my major to public relations this semester. The reason is that I had an internship in the advertisement company SEO department this summer in Shanghai, China for three months.I would like to work in the advertisement Company in the future. And I think learning Mass Media is much more useful for my job. So I decided to change my major after the internship.
I come to Washburn because that I was an exchange student last year, and after one semester, I think my English improved a lot. So I decided to stay here to get the degree in Washburn. And if I can get the degree here, it is much easier for me to get the job in Shanghai after I graduate.
I am very optimistic and easygoing. I like spend time with my friends. I like reading, writing and watching movies in my spare time. I also like traveling. Since I came here, I have been to Miami,Key West, New York, Philadelphia, Boston, Washington DC, L. A, San Francisco, New Orleans, Chicago, Minneapolis,Des Moines, and Omaha etc.As long as I have vacation, I am eager to traveling around. And I will go to Seattle this fall break with my fiends! It is really interesting to meet different people in different places. I like to talk to them and they are very nice and patient.
I come from Shanghai, a big city in China. I love my hometown. Shanghai is now developing very fast, you can almost find everything you want. And Disney in Shanghai opens this summer. I hope more and more people can come to visit Shanghai and know Shanghai.

  1. Dear Thea, I was very intrigued reading about your life and what got you interested with advertising. I would love to hear more about your internship, and I would love to hear more about your personal experiences with the food you prepare. You also do a very good job going in detail about the differences between our cultures. Thank you so much for sharing.
